2024 seems to have flown by and I’m so excited to ring in the new year and experience everything that 2025 has to offer! With so many predictions and trend alerts, I’ve decided to hone in on one special feature that has been making waves recently – the use of curves. Curved furniture and architecture has a long history (most notably in the Art Deco era of the 1920’s and then again in the 1960s & 70s) so it’s no surprise that we are seeing a resurgence of its popularity. For the past few years in home interior design we have been watching sharp edges and rigid shapes being traded in for softer, more organic lines. Curved lines have been popping up everywhere from sofa and table designs to tabletop accessories and mirrors to architectural elements like doorways and windows. I suspect we will be incorporating a lot more curves into our homes as we enter into 2025 and I’m loving it! Here are some of the latest curvy inspo I’ve been gathering!
There are many takes on the curved line in furniture from curved backs, rounded seats, circular and oval tables, arches, cylinders and even round balls (like those pillows you’ve been seeing). With every furniture supplier on board with this groovy trend, there is so much to choose from!
Mirrors, lighting and accessories are another great way to feature these organic shapes in your home. Whether it’s wavy, irregular, or asymmetrical there are so many interesting pieces available, big or small.
Lastly, curved lines are showing everywhere from kitchens and bathrooms to hallways and living rooms. Arched doors and windows are leading the way, while other architectural elements like built-in shelving are designed to highlight certain areas or create a focal point.
Are you ready to embrace the curve? Don’t forget to mix them in with your straight edged pieces for a well-balanced look. Happy 2025!
